Experience of life:
Realising that doing more and more just leads to having to do more and more so they’re learning to get out of their own way and surrender to life

Do we talk enough about that space in between trying to do everything and learning to do nothing?

That space where we see through the lie that hard work equals success.

The myth that if it’s not where we want it to be, we need to do more, learn more, create more. Add more avenues. Be more visible.

We’re taught that doing everything is a skill. A talent. Multi-talented, in fact. It feeds our egos and fuels our exhaustion, reinforcing the self-limiting belief that we are in control.

The paradox is that we are in control and we regain that control by doing less, being less visible, going inward, and stilling the mind.

Try telling the mind that, though. That space in between trying to do everything and learning to do nothing… where our thoughts become like screaming children wanting to be heard. Our sense of obligation compelling us to fix it, to take action, to persevere in the face of adversity as we’ve always done.

So that in-between space is often fraught with anxiety, heart racing, mind wandering when all we want is inner peace.

Do we talk about it enough, this space of learning to do nothing when we’ve lived our whole lives trying to do everything?

I am learning to let it ride. It may not be the way I thought it would be, but I know it’s exactly the way it should be.
