Vultures hover over their prey, ready for the last dying breath of an animal in the wilderness. How many people do you see circling around elders, hoping their names appear in a will to inherit wealth? How many try to stake a claim in long-standing businesses built by the hard work of others, eager to gain assets without contributing to the legacy? To me, this is akin to a conqueror marking their territory, seeking dominion over someone else’s life’s work.

The other day, I watched an episode of America’s Got Talent featuring a choir made up of people who had been homeless. One woman who saw talent and passion on the streets put a choir together. Their performance truly tugged at my heart. They made a difference in their homeless community. They created songs, performed, and raised funds to help each other access medical care.

Shackles or Freedom

When I think of control, I picture someone or an animal shackled in chains, restrained from running free. What can we truly control? The sun shines without our intervention, and the ocean flows without our input. The more we try to control external movements, the more we see that such control is fleeting.

Freedom on all levels…from and for ourselves

For me, when I think of sovereignty, I have this immediate sense of being empowered within myself in all areas of my life. As all areas are deeply intertwined and connected and therefore influence each other, it stands to reason that when I implement uplevelling changes in one area, then all are positively affected as a result. .
